“In a recent report by Matthew Hill of BBC News it was inferred that Gastric Band surgery carried out by surgeons in Belgium put UK Patients at risk. This is totally untrue.”
Bloody BBC doing the unethical scare-mongering trick again.
I know what it’s about, they have been told to find ways to stop money leaving the country. Next up will be people that go abroad for dentistry or other cosmetic surgeries.
U.K. surgeons charge too much for these procedures, that’s why people go abroad for surgery.
The risks of having your surgery done in Europe are EXACTLY the same as at any top-flight clinic. In a word, minimal.
Yes it happens, but terribly rarely, and it wouldn’t matter if you were having the procedure in Britian, Belgium or Bangalore, the risk factor would be identical.
Something that seemed to be missing from the BBC report is something that is of HUGE importance. These are NOT un-regulated clinics, these are not amateurs playing with knives. They are all highly skilled surgeons that have spent more years in training than many “journalists” have been working!
BBC, pick on the fuel companies that have still not dropped pump-prices despite oil falling to last years prices, leave those that are actually helping people, improving their confidence and health to get on with a much needed service.
